Superman Really Has Returned!

Well, I have just got back from seeing "Superman Returns" and was very pleasantly surprised! Brandon Routh actually made a very credible replacement for Christopher Reeve, god rest his soul. I thought Kevin Spacey rocked as Lex Luther and the only fly in the ointment for me was the slightly wanting performance of Kate Bosworth as Lois. She just didn't have that commanding/bossy/sassy edge that Lois Lane has always had before. I'll concede she looked good on the big screen and gave a good performance as some woman in love with Superman but she was not by any standard Lois Lane. She just didn't seem to get the character - which even the girl on Smallville manages to achieve. The story was pretty good, with some good tense moment and the usual breathtaking special effects but the end felt a tad bitty to me and the momentum was a little lost. All in all an entertaining couple of hours and I think I will be adding the DVD to my Superman collection!

On a side note, I saw the trailer for the next Spiderman movie and DAMN, it looks good!! I cannot wait. It is a difficult challenge to follow a well done popular movie with a good sequel and in my opinion they have managed it once (pretty good script, story and performances), I just hope they keep the standard up.
